Mold removal

INSPECTION AND ASSESSMENT:

Like with every type of remediation, the first step in tackling mold is to assess the situation. TCCS will send a trained mold removal specialist (MRS) to determine next steps and gather key information, such as what the cause may be, the location and extent of the damage, and uncover potentially hidden damage inside walls and ceilings. Moisture content measurements and mold samples may be taken. From here, we can proceed with the most appropriate course of action.

SITE CONTAINMENT AND PPE:

When handling potentially toxic and harmful material, it's of utmost importance to utilize PPE, properly isolate the problem, and keep the spread of spores to a minimum. This typically entails sectioning the area off with plastic or polyurethane sheeting.

REMOVAL:

Once the site has been properly contained and all technicians are in the appropriate PPE, they can begin the remediation itself. The area may be lightly misted via a humidifier or other tool to keep spores from traveling through the air as mold and mold-infested materials are removed. This may include drywall, carpeting, insulation, etc. From here, the materials must be packaged, sealed, and sprayed down to eliminate any microscopic spores that may be on the exterior of the bag. This process is highly regulated through EPA standards, and TCCS maintains detailed records and reporting of every step of the process.

POST-REMOVAL CLEANING:

Once the area is clear, a HEPA vacuum is used on all surfaces to pick up spores, debris, and dust. Air scrubbers or filters may be used as well, depending on the severity of the infestation. Materials that cannot be removed are cleaned with commercial grade mold disinfectant.

SET DRYING AND FINAL TESTING:

Dryers and fans will be used to maintain a standard of humidity that does not encourage regrowth. Once the site and materials are dry, a final walkthrough will be conducted. At this time, an MRS will asses humidity levels and moisture readings. They may also take airborne spore samples inside and outside the remediated area for final testing.

What is Mold Remediation?

Anyone who’s dealt with this knows the cycle: you scrub, repaint, run a fan and weeks later it creeps back. That’s because the stain is a symptom, not the source. True remediation tracks down the cause, fixes it, and removes the moisture that keeps growth alive. Then a trained team cleans, treats, and dries the space to keep it from returning.
